Her real life might be in turmoil, but Katy Perry couldn't be happier in the virtual world of The Sims.
The singer is to join the popular video game that simulates real life and families.
Just weeks after the end of her marriage to Russell Brand the 27 year old star has been named as the star of a new game.




Her tie in with the makers of The Sims will feature Perry-themed content and virtual goods, including clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props.
Perry, a fan of the game, said: 'I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters - giving them different careers and watching them succeed. It's cool to see the Sims' stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour - even my cotton candy video screens are in there!

Electronic Arts, makers of The Sims, said Perry will play a key role in developing the games featuring her likeness.
The deal includes creating Perry-themed in-game items and virtual goods and begins with a Perry-themed collector’s edition of The Sims 3 Showtime, which will go on sale in March.
Steve Schnur, executive of music for EA, said that a Sims-powered music video of Perry's Hot and Cold made in The Sims 2 became one of the most popular "Simlish" music videos to date.



'Today marks the start of the most integrated and exciting collaboration with any artist in the history of The Sims,' said Schnur.
'Katy Perry has been a fan of The Sims for several years, and her Simlish recording of her hit Hot and Cold featured in The Sims 2 series quickly became the most popular Simlish music video to date…No performer could better represent the humor and fun of The Sims brand.'
The partnership will kick off with a special Collector's Edition for The Sims 3 Showtime, launching in March. Perry will also be featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for the brand.
